To start primary school, your child will need to turn five years old by 30 April in the year that they start school, and have started school in the year they turn six years of age.

The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Foundation (Prep) at a Victorian government primary school, including Reservoir Primary School.

You will be able to apply to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) 2027 at Reservoir Primary School from 20 April 2026 (forms are released in Week 1 of Term 2).
What you need to do:
Enrolment applications submitted after 31 July 2026 will be processed by our school as they are received, in accordance with the department’s Placement Policy.
Our school zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au, which hosts the most up-to-date information on school zones in Victoria.
Students residing within our school zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined based on your permanent residential address.
Our school manages enrolments using the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and may enrol at another school if places are available.
Use the Department of Education’s school zoning tool below to find your local school. Enter your address and choose “Primary” to see your zone.

Prep 2027 Orientation – Bookings now open (for accepted students only)
Our Prep teachers are getting excited for the Reservoir Primary School Prep 2027 Orientation sessions!
We encourage all enrolled Prep 2027 students to attend all four sessions in Term 4. These are our formal Orientation sessions where our teachers will consider groupings for classes next year, and caregivers will receive more specific information all about starting school at Reservoir Primary School next year!

Entry at other year levels is welcomed, both from students whose families are new to the area, or if they are looking to change schools.
An information booklet will be given to all new families; it outlines details of our educational programs and school organisation and includes handy hints to help your child make the transition to our school.
